It seems like writing has always been part of my life. Soon after learning to read The Cat in the Hat, I drove my mother crazy as she sat by my side to listen to me read 196 more books during my 1st grade year in order to outread everyone else in my class. Soon afterwards, I decided to put pencil to paper. At age seven, I created stories about Casper the Ghost and decided that it was my destiny to be a writer.
As John Lennon said, life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. I grew up, earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work (after starting out as a journalism major; go figure), married, and became a mother. After about five years as a Social Worker, I realized that something was missing from my life. I put pen to paper once more, and increasingly, fingers to the keyboard. After five more years of refining my craft, I took the plunge as a full-time freelance writer.
I’ve written a little of everything, including travel, juvenile nonfictions, curriculum, general and parenting features, fiction, biographies, cultural histories, greeting cards, publicity releases, advertorials. I love having a job where no two days are ever the same!
